Lunch salad ideas at Grandma Anderson’s – August 30 … and staying cool!

How’s the day going? Glad you popped in for lunch. I’m making a few of my favourite salads for lunch.

Good day!

Golfer Gary took me out for a round of golf yesterday at Unforgiving Meadows, and believe me: they  were unforgiving.

Especially how I play.

And as I was going to find my ball when a tee shot went left — way left — into the bushes,

I thought what golf does.  Golfer Gary took me with  three of his friends.

And in the  span of five hours, we became pretty good friends. We laughed,  we encouraged eachother, and we had some thoughtful and respectful conversations.

When we said good-bye, we exchanged contact information — anf the opportunity to expand our friendship and, ultimately, love for eachother.

New friends are  another gift from God.

Now, if the Good Lord could just give me a hand with me  tee shot.

Hi. I’m Taxi Ted!

Ix it OK to drive down a one-way street backwards? And where can get a portable air conditioner for my car?

I’m just too darn hot to be grumpy.

Hey Grandma! I know you’re making those biscuits I like, but could ya turn  the oven off?

And more ice, please.

Billy Shakes on summer

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm’d;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature’s changing course untrimm’d;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this and this gives life to thee.

You can always golf on a hot day …

But, on a more serious note…

Grandma Anderson’s for Monday, August 28, 2017

Good morning and happy Monday.

I saw something yesterday, Sunday morning, just as I was leaving church. One if our new pastors — a young man — was on his way out the door to take his two young girls swimming on a glorious afternoon  when someone slowly opened the door and walked in.

“Is there a pastor around?” the man said.

“I am a pastor,” the young man said.

A little uneasy silence grabbed the moment.

“Would you like to chat?” our pastor asked.

“Yes, I would,” the man answered.

“Could we talk here, or would you like to go somewhere private?”

The man look down, somewhat uncomfortably.

“Could we please talk in private?”

Our pastor gathered his things and  started making his way up the stairs.

“Be happy to help.”

As I made my way out the door I thought of the unexpected situations God gives us. And the grace and understanding we need to always have … to share God’s hope and love.

Grandma Anderson’s Gang for Saturday, August 26, 2017

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Saturdays are great for bar-b-ques.  How about some bar-b-qued ribs?

Sometimes’ we wonder just what God is doing.

And we wonder that today as Hurricane Harvey Hurricane whirls around Texas this afternoon and we wait to hear what will happen.

We pray for the people in Harvey’s path. We pray for the firefighters, paramedics, emergency room staff, doctors and everyone else who will be playing significant roles.

And, maybe, we also pray for ourselves to understand God’s will with unfailing grace.

The armourers, accomplishing the knights,
With busy hammers closing rivets up,
Give dreadful note of preparation.

Good morning. Pastor Pete here.

The work day has certainly changed, hasn’t it?

With technology, our work days begin the second we roll out of bed and reach for our cell phones. Texts, emails and cell phone calls from overnight, we tell ourselves, need to be answered.

Now. Right now..

Our career, our profession and our work may change. How many of us have 9-to-5 jobs anymore. And the things we do have changed, too.

But the one thing that will always — always —  remain the same is who we ultimately work four: our Lord and  savour.

Let’s make him proud today.

Cam’s Comment:

This is Canada’s 150th anniversay — a great tiime to showcase Canada. So, why is Amazing Race Canada flying all over the world rather than  celebrating our own back yard.

I have cerebral palsy. Let’s ask Siri about the  Amazing Race Canada.

August 23, 2017 – Wednesday

Good morning.
Good morning.
Good morning!

Here’s a funky (is that how the young  people say it) thing I’m cooking for breakfast. CLICK THE PI

Good day.

Who do we call for help? Even before 911 when we need medical attention? Or, before the door swings open for that big interview? Or when we need just a liitle confidence to get us through the day.

We pray to God. We ask Jesus to gently come and sit down beside us and give us not specifically we want. But certainly what we need.

Yet, how many times do we proclaim our Christian faith? And why are we sometimes ashamed, even embarassed, to mention we’re Christians?

Because we never know: we never know what people who are in earshot of what we say … and need a new sense of hope.

We have a wondeful opportunity to share our faith., which can wash over others. And lead to wonderful things.
